So, I’m minding my own business, doing my normal morning Instagram scroll and BOOM! BOOTY GALORE!! I’m sure we’ve all Nicki Minaj’s new cover work for upcoming single ‘Anaconda’; which ironically doesn’t correlate with the title or cover but that’s neither here nor there. As soon as my eyes glanced her perfectly shaped, thong infused derrière; I knew all hell was about to break loose on this one! We all know that Nicki isn’t in any way shape or form Miss Prim & Proper, but even I (a pro big butt committee member) was taken back on first sight. Especially since Nicki was always very coy about having her massive rump on show, and now after the wigs and crazy styling has gone, she has reverted to what she knows works.. BOOTY! Donning a way too late parental advisory sticker and seeing flashbacks of Lil Kim flash before my eyes, the question stands. Too much or just Nicki?
Let me not be naive, there are some serious implications of images like this floating around in the media. Nicki being so influential and having a huge younger generation following her every move, we must be weary of how these images are counteracted in our normal lives. Media, culture and entertainment industries have created prototypes; whether it be big booty girls or skinny models. So whether girls are getting butt injections or starving themselves, the underlying issue still is not being faced. Is this how we want our young children growing up and seeing women? Bent over with baby G Strings? Young boys thinking it is ‘ok’ to see women close to naked while scrolling through iTunes? It affects us all! How many of you have seen the increase of young women in waist trainers, squatting and lunging like there’s no tomorrow to emulate the images we see every day which is deemed ‘Thick’?!
Booty really does talk....
