The Lonely Hearts Club

Roses are red, violets are blue....I'm scared of being alone and that's why I'm with you”.... Happy Valentines Day !!!

Around the Valentines day period, I notice a lot of people mysteriously coupling up, taking selfies with captions like "date night with bae." But two weeks prior they were screaming the single life! For some reason we always need to feel attached or connected to someone at all times. Has the fear of loneliness enslaved us in  dead end relationships? Has it crippled our ability to appreciate our OWN company?

We all have that one friend that invests all her energy into that prick guy who disrespects her (even though he has no job, no ambition and is wearing his net-worth every time you see him)  just so she can go on a date in a fancy restaurant (that she will probably pay) and take a f**king selfie. Only to leave the restaurant with an empty purse and deflated self esteem.

"Are Women Only Confident When Naked?"

I thought I’d start this article with a witty first liner comparable with that of Carrie Bradshaw but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. I’m sitting in a coffee shop, pondering over a discussion I had with my fairly misogynistic male friend. He remarked that I could not be as confident when relating to men, as men could be with women. I’m not talking about the ole’ double standard of men being able to sleep with lots of women and being praised and women doing the same and being called ‘sluts’ (we know, Lilly Allen, Eve etc have taught us that already). I’m talking about the idea that women who are confident are seen as intimidating, ‘man eaters’ and sometimes as lesbians, because they play hard ball. Pardon the pun. However when men are trail blazers, cocky and full of bravado-they’re simply manly, a man’s man. Since when did confidence become a male only attribute?
